Clinical Pilates

About clinical pilates

Clinical pilates is an exercise method, applied under physiotherapist supervision, built on the trunk (core) muscles, postural control, breathing and balanced movement.

Its key difference from general group classes is that it is tailored to the person's assessment and to any existing complaint. In this respect it can be used safely both in healthy individuals and in certain musculoskeletal problems.

Situations in which it is often preferred:

Process and practice

First, posture, movement habits and muscular balance are assessed. Then a personalised, gradual programme is created; the exercises are progressed on a mat or reformer, with attention to correct form and control.

When a medical diagnosis is involved, the programme is arranged in line with the physician's opinion. The aim is to support trunk support, movement quality and daily-life comfort.
